Fahrwerk

Otto

I find the ideal location for Asphalt landing is to have the axle 3 to 3.5 cm behind the leading edge of the wing. This is for Quickies. I don't know for Q40s or F3Ds.

Hallo Otto, hallo Denis!

It seems to me as if you would just change the direktion of the landing gear, just depend on where you are, on Asphalt or Grass?
Pretty good idea!

The main idea is to make it easier to land the plane without bouncing it on asphalt. The shape of the gear and mounting allows you to reverse the gear for grass. With the gear turned around the axle is 1.5 cm behind the wing leading edge. I have never flown a quickie off of grass so I don't know if it is right but I do know this is typically how they are. Individual racers will make slight adjustments to suit themselves. With the gear in the back position I do not think you could take off of grass unless your helper literally LAUNCHED it. He would need a cannon like arm. In the back position you need a little up elevator on asphalt with the CG at 7.1 to 7.3 cm to keep from buzzing the prop.
