Cap Blanc Nez, wer ist dort schon geflogen?

Moin Leute,
in einem RCL-Thread habe ich diesen (http://users.pandora.be/laurent.dejonghe/) Link zu einer Page gefunden der 1. ziemlich "handliche" Segler und 2. fantastische Bilder von "Cap Blanc Nez" zeigt.
Ist einer von Euch dort schon geflogen? Muß einfach gigantisch sein!
Über Infos bezüglich beste Jahreszeit, Windrichtung und Landemöglichkeiten würde ich mich freuen :)

Ich schließe mich der Anfrage an - obwohl: Wenn man dort mit einem 5-Meter-Segler auftaucht, scheint man eher ein kleineres Modell in die Luft zu befördern ... :eek:

Hello, hope you understand some English.

Cap Blanc Nez is just near Calais, where the Chunnel (tunnel between France and United Kingdom).
You can fly almost all wind directions, however not full East.
Best conditions are SE through W. Landing is failry easy once you know the trick. I fly the large planes over there (up to 13m) without problems. NW is also splendid but a bit more difficult to land larger planes (up to 4m).
You can fly directly when you arrive at the parking, no need to walk to the slope ;)

For N and NE conditions we fly at 3km from there, a great slope with large thermals, I will put some pictures of this slope on my site also.

During summer the slope is visited by many international pilots (also German people), this is why it can be a bit busy then, and collisions are no exception :mad:

..oh Mann JAA. Doppelte Waku-Anfahrtstrecke sollte doch kein Hinderungsgrund sein :cool: , vor allem wenn man das noch mit einem kleinen Normandie-Urlaub vebindet. thank you for the pics, great landscape!! It´s not that far away from Hamburg and I think I have to come and see anf fly my tiny DG 600 (5m) :D
Me and a friend use to go for soaring to the "Wasserkuppe" in April, maybe we can switch our location and come to France!?! (na Torsten, das wär doch was :D )
If we or I decide to come I will contact you for details, and maybe you´ll reveal the "trick" ;)

5m is not that tiny :) . The planes on the Cape are all around 2m. My larger planes are rather exception over there. If to busy on the Cap self, I fly on a private slope 3km from there, and is only allowed to be flown by members, but I can arrange that, no problem. From what I heard from friends of mine, the Wasserkuppe becomes to busy...I don't know, is it ??? German people coming to the Cap always say the conditions at the Cap are much better ... so you should verify for yourself :) But if you think about it, it sounds rather logic, just near the sea winds are very stable. Avril is normally great to fly, not too many pilots (max 10) and good winds,but it can be rather cold, then we sit in the 'hole' and drink 'lemumba'= hot chocolate and rhum. :D .

Hallo,
bin auch einer von den "Cap blanc nez" Infizierten. Bin fast jedes Jahr da, letztmals gerade in den Herbstferien. Zum einen des Modellfliegens wegen, andererseits bin ich von der Landschaft auch sehr fasziniert.
Zum Modellfliegen allerdings muß die Windrichtung einigermaßen passen (Süd/Südwest) dann trägt der Hang unwahrscheinlich gut und absolut gleichmäßig - ohne Verwirbelungen. Bei anderen Windrichtungen gibts etwas landeinwärts noch einen Hang, ca. 5km vom Cap entfernt.
Wir waren schon mit einigen Vereinskameraden da, -gell Gunter- sind jeweils nach dem Frühstück hoch und geflogen bis zum Sonnenuntergang.
Übrigens, in Sangatte, direkt unterhalb des Caps liegt der Campingplatz Cap blanc nez. Hier kann man auch Studios mieten, die - ebenso wie die sanitären Anlagen zwar etwas spartanisch ausgestattet sind - aber immerhin....
Aber auch verschiedene Bauernhöfe und Restaurants bieten Fremdenzimmer an.
Prädikat bei passender Windrichtung: Unbedingt empfehlenswert !!

Bin auch oefters auf die Cap Blanc Nez gewesen. Alles positive kann ich dann auch nur bestaetigen! Wenn die Windrichtung stimmt gehts nur hoch so zu sagen ;)
Doch auch eine kritische Bemerkung! Wenn dort schoenes Flugwetter ist, ist die Hoelle los. Dann sind nicht nur Piloten aus Frankreich da, sondern auch aus Belgien/Niederlande/Deutschland... und genau die letzte drei Laendern haben die Frequenzbreiche alle in 35Mhz! Doppeltbelegungen sind nicht ungewoehnt! Und wenn wirklich viel los ist, wird manchmal nicht mehr sooo genau rumgefragt!!!
Sollte aber kein Problem sein; einfach gut rumfragen.... wie immer....

@Laurent weisst du schon ob (besser wann) die ganze Cap Blanc Nez in Naturschutzgebiet umgewandelt werden soll?

Hi Bob,

The plans to convert Cap Blanc Nez in a Natural parc have been postponed ;) , so this is good news. I even asked the local authorities and they confirm. The only thing we should be care of, are the paragliders, they try everything to have the slope for them. But I have confirmation from the local authorities that is is NOT allowed for paragliders.
What concerns the frequencies, I always have cristals in reserve (even 3 different), this is not only a problem of the Cap, but anywhere you wanna fly, so , it was anyway a good point of you to mention it again. Be care also to know your frequency (not the band number), in France they don't work with this number , but with the frequency.

Neues vom Cap im Februar 2009

Es ist dort ein Verein gegründet worden, um das Fliegen in einem Naturschutzgebiet weiterhin möglich zu machen. Alle Gastflieger werden gebeten, sich an die örtlichen Spielregeln zu halten, um die Bemühungen des Vereins nicht zu gefährden.

Man kann dort auch wunderbar Wellenreiten und Windsurfen. Wissant heisst der Nachbarort. Wo ich oft war. 5 Stunden Fahrzeit von Köln aus.

Cap Blanc Nez ist schon toll, aber wer es ruhiger mag und gerne vor grandioser
Landschaft fliegt dem sei das Cap la Hague empfohlen. Gibt dort sogar einen
Stellplatz fürs Wohnmobil. Küste, Hang, Wind und Wellen. Der Hammer !
Ist allerdings nochmal sehr deutlich weiter !
