The F3 was 56"(1.42m) in length-not including rudder. It was 72" wide(1.83m) and the centerline to centerline of the amas was 60"(1.52m). The total volume of one ama was equivalent to about 80% of total displacement. All up weight 7-8lb- normally about 7.5lb(3.41kg).
The F3 type foiler is impossible under the mini40 rule. The oversquare beam is required to reduce the load on the wand controlled foils-which develop all the RM(righting moment) for the boat-as well as vertical lift. A narrower beam would not work well unless movable ballast was used(ala the fullsize Whisper cat).

Es ist 2007 ins Netz gestellt worden, also mind. fünf Jahre alt. Erklärt mir Unwissendem doch bitte mal, was wir in den letzten fünf Jahren für (sichtbare) Fortschritte bei den Foilern erzielt haben.

Ihr wisst auch, dass ich ab dem nächsten Jahr mit einer 20 Jahre alten und leicht modifizierten Trimarankonstruktion antreten werde, und ich hab nicht vor letzter zu werden.....:D

@Doug thanks for your detailed datas, your design and light weight building is very good...above the link to a similar size of a early light weight foiler design from france...It's showing a possible foiling takeoff by light windconditions.
That's is in my understanding the desgn difference to Ian Holt's design to Mini40 size. Balance beamlengh to floatvolume and respective weight to more sailstability under foilcondition...

F3 vs Surface -piercer

Ians boats are surface-piercing foilers that control altitude through speed.His foils generate lift but no righting moment with the foils. The F3 uses fully submerged foils that require dual independent wands to control altitude.
The main difference between the two is that the F3 foil system generates righting moment through the foils as well as vertical lift and would ,therefore, be able to develop more power to carry sail.
His boats are close to legal mini 40's and the F3 is not. Further, the mini 40 rules would not allow the F3 type foil system to be used because it relies on an oversquare platform for greatest efficiency and speed.
 
@Doug you are absolutely right,that's the reason why the france Design from 2007 is using a centerfoil for avoid twisting, Its directionstabil.
Im my understanding you will need a unlimited prototypclass with aloud overhangs. Otherwise the balance weight will be to heavy to run inbetween the given beamlengh....
