Hi all,
Thanks again for all the great PC21 info. I did finish mine just before the summer and so far it has only had two 4 minute flights. I had some issues with the LiPo's which took some time to replace...
But I have a question about the gear. I have the original gear from Sebart. To operate the gear I use the JET TRONICS valve as well as for the brakes. The Jet tronics is doing what it should do. Open the correct valve to pass the compressed air to the correct outlet. And vice versa. But... To retract it's nice. It's firm but good. The other way to extend the gear is a whole different story. It literally SLAMS into the downlock. And I mean really hard. If the wing wouldn't be solid enough they would definitely break out of the rails.
So I have been looking/searching the web. The JT valve has a speed control function where it does pulsate the pressure to the pistons. To retract it consumes quite some air. But to extend it's nice to have it pulsate for a very short time because the gravity does the rest. But even with this setting it just slams the gear down.
Today I have been trying to restrict the air outlet of the JT valve but this is also used when you retract the gear and then it needs quite a good punch to lift these heavy wheels up... So to restrict the air outlet on the valve is not the solution.
Then when I was clamping down the air line which brings the gear down I discovered that it needed quite some pressure to get it out of the uplock. And then once it is out the pressure is relatively high plus a heavy weight leg and some extra gravity and SLAM its out.
So reducing the pressure or restricting the pressure is not the key either. It looks more like it to have some damping mechanism on the end when the leg extends... but then you could create a downlock problem...
How did you guys tackled this ? Do you leave them slamming out every time ? Does it damage the wing ?
I know EZB is using an electric version. Perfect. But this should work too I think.

I have made exactly the same experience than you did.
The only hint I think about is to check that when the gear goes up, you have to make sure that is comes to its end position very easily and locks easily.
i.e. check that the wheel or the leg do not touch anything before the gear reaches its end position (my wheels touched the upper wood cover of the wings and the plates that cover the legs also touched the wings before the gear was 100% up.
In other words you have to avoid that it will be locked with pressure, because this will then on the other hand need the air pressure to build up quite a lot until the lock will be released when the gear should go down.
The effect is high pressure until the lock is released but when it is finally released there is too much pressure for a smooth down movement i.e. it will slamm down.
All this however only helped me up to some degree. I am still not satisfied and had other problems.
I tried to make the movement go more easily by unscrewing the whole gear, put grease everywhere and screw it back again.
Then I noticed that you cannot fix the screws with pressure as this will again prevent an easy movement.
Finally I think the the whole gear is quite heavy and of medium quality.
If ever I will have another Isssue with it, I think that I will change it all and replace it with some well known brand gear (i.e. Behotec)

Hallo zusammen
Ich bin mir am überlegen auch den PC 21 xl von Sebart zuzulege. Jedoch bin ich mir noch nicht einig, die elektrische oder die Verbrennervariante zu erstellen. Auf diversen Youtube Videos ist jeweils die elektrische Version zu sehen. Jedoch ist dort ein Sound der Turboprob Turbine zu hören. Weiss jemand wo man solche Soundmodule kaufen kann oder ob dies bereits enthalten ist?

Vielleicht hat er etwas in der Pipeline?

Im Youtube hat jemand ein Soundmodul in einen PC-21 gebaut.
Ich weiss nicht ob derjenige einfach ein Turboprop Sound eingebaut hat.
Von mir aus tönt es ein wenig komisch oder die Lautsprecher sind noch nicht richtig montiert.

Hallo Kollegen, habe mir nun auch eine PC21 XL von Sebart gebaut und ein kleines Turboproptriebwerk auf Basis einer P20 Jetcat eingebaut. Ich wusste zwar von Anfang an, daß die Maschine etwas groß ist für das Triebwerk, allerdings finde ich die PC21 von Sebart einfach geil, weshalb schlussendlich die Wahl doch darauf viel und mich eure Berichte über Flugeingeschaften überzeugt haben. Außerdem haben bei meinem Heimatverein nur eine kurze Graspiste, weshalb Kurzstart und -landung angesagt sind. Ich komme auf ein Abfluggewicht inkl. 1 L Kerosin von ca. 10,7kg. Ich habe zwar erst 5 Flüge und teste noch verschiedene Propeller auf dem neuen Triebwerk, aber die letzten 2 Flüge mit 12er Steigung sind schon relativ vielversprechend. Zudem verträgt das Triebwerk und der Flieger sicherlich noch mehr Steigung und somit Geschwindigkeit. Außerdem bin ich ohnehin kein Vollgaspilot. Anbei noch ein paar Bilder und Videos.

In eine PC-21 gehört halt schon eine Turbine.
Propeller Erprobung steht bei mir morgen auch an - jedoch an Elektro...
Zumindest messe ich mal die Stromaufnahmen durch bevor es später ans Fliegen geht...

Habe mir letztes jahr die pilatus mit 2,2 meter von sebart gekauft, unddie kommt aus Frankreich von ''jjm store'' fur 1900 euros mit DLE 55ra motor und model mit einziefahrwerk.
Leider sehr viele arbeit fur ein ready to fly. Viele baufehler von sebart und fehledes material im bausatz.
Fur ein benzin motor einzubauen muss man das vordere einziefahrwerk wechseln, sonst passt kein ausspuf hinter dem motor .
Das fahrwerk (federn ) sind auf die 3 beine zu schwach! Das model beim fahren senkt komplett ab!!!
Die beleuchtung muss komplett gewechselt werden weil die lampen passen nicht in die flachen , und keine blinkern moglich weil das system nicht programier bar ist.
Sonnst schones model aber benotigt viel anderung und montage.

Ich bin nur bedingt mit deinen Aussagen einverstanden.
Das Modell findet man ohne Fahrwerk für ca. 800 EURO. Das ist meiner Ansicht nach nicht viel. Bedenkt man das ein anständiges Lichtset 200-300 kostet, kann ich verschmerzen, dass die mitgelieferten Lichter direkt in den Müll wandern.
Abgesehen von einen passenden Spinner ist alles dabei. Baut man sie elektrisch, ist das für ein Modell dieser Grösse schnell erledigt.
Ich verstehe, dass der Umbau auf Verbrenner problematisch sein kann. Aber so richtig dafür vorgesehen, ist sie ja auch nicht, obwohl die Anleitung und der Produktbeschrieb etwas anderes implizieren.
Und ja - die Federn im Fahrwerk sind zu schwach... Dafür ist das Fahrwerk sehr leicht und mit genügend Loctite funktioniert es wohl auch dauerhaft.
Bleib dran. Fliegen tut sie nämlich sehr gut...
