Hi everyone, I back to update some photos recently. My friend still haven't finished the fiberglass fuselage, So I build the second one during the virus block down, I prefer to vintage silk covering.

Wait for some hours for dry, then sand it. I made a cylindrical sanding stick to do the job. There may still be dents after the first pass and will need to be touched up and repeated. This is what it looks like after the second pass.

Dope. （The label says Q63-1 Nitro Coating Paint, Because there is no models Dope in our market, I found Dope for real aircraft. This paint is used for painting the rudder surface of the AN-2 biplane.）I thin it with thinner, the volume ratio is paint:thinner 1:2

silk. We have it easily available here, I chose the classic tawny, but there are also white, cream and darker tans. Its specification is about 7-17g/㎡, the ductility is very good, and it is very easy to handle the spherical surface. I think its ductility is greater than that of glass fiber, so that I only used 4 small pieces of silk for the whole body (including covering the complex machine. wing root)
After two coats, the texture of the cloth is still obvious. I decided to keep this color as the color of the plane. The splice of the silk will become less and less noticeable over time (as the overall color will get darker and older over time)

I painted this part gray. As pictured, the canopies has also been secured with very small clockwork screws

For silk surfaces, I recommend applying water-based paint with a pen as much as possible. If you spray paint, because of this Dope process, even if you paint the dope many times, it is still difficult to avoid small pinholes on the surface. This can cause some trouble when painting.
