RC-1 Modelle

@beppe: congrats, a very nice build (again) and an excellent design, looks like
one more sucessful add to your collection, isn't it?

Ciao Beppe,

BTW: There is a rumor that says that Benitos 'Komet' was designed before '76. The Komet is
definitly ahead of its time, no doubt about that, but I can not belive that he used it in or
even before '76. Can you do me a big favor and ask Benito about this? I phoned him once but I
can only speek Portugues. Yes, we had some funny talk and I am sure he will remeber this one. ;)

OK, it will take some time, Benito is a good talker.

yepp... and also a great designer. Thank you so much, Beppe!

in the meantime

Nossa, you have it all, I'm flashed. This is really nice. Now I see for the
very first time that the design on the Mantua box really existed in real life,
w. m. in competition. Cool, Beppe, thank you very much for your scans.

Giuseppe Bertolozzi's design is also top notch, isn't it?

Bertolozzi was Benito's pupil, they both live in Lucca, he mainly flew Benito' designed models. The one in the picture should be a Kosmo3.

Talked to Benito minutes ago.
Over 80 of age he is still very active in modelling learning young boys, and girls, how to build and fly free flight models, two scholars of his will attend the next European Free Flight championship.
Komet was designed in 1975 but was not used in contest till 1977, due to sponsor agreement he had with Mantua Model and OPS regarding Kosmo3.

As Alemao told - really interesting. Didn't expect the Komet to be from 1975!
When did Bertolani start with the Kosmo then?

P.S.: Still like the Kosmo' s sleek lines better...;)

These models he used at Italian trial for 1969 World Championship in Bremen, he didn't make for the team.
Model name : Italia 1

I shot this picture in Gorizia in 1973, the other guy is Renato Ripari, who has been italian F3A judge for a long time.
Don't know the model name, but it's obviously almost a Kosmo3.

Ich hätte einen Kosmo 3 von Simprop zum restaurieren abzugeben, Übergabe zum Beispiel in Wehrheim, oder in Ampfing, Coxnabrück beim Retrotreffen...

Beppe, this is really interesting because now we get a history.
This is (the fuse of) the 'Kosmo 3' wich is kitted and delivered by Mantua (IT):

Kosmo3_Rumpf.jpg

The '73 mainly uses a differnt canopy, yes. The '7 Bello' ...the Profile seems to be
modded, it has a bigger chamber than a 'clean' NACA.

Interesting ist the step to the 'Kosmo 2'. Thicker profile and it looks like an also
modded root profile wich streams to a cleaner NACA at the wingtip.
If the root rip defines let's say 2/3 of the wing than you have a reduced drag and
less uplift. So you can fly faster with a light plane even if you have worse
stall characteristics. But since you fly airy you do not need a superior stall
characteristik or you even don't want it to have a better spin entry. This is
what Fritz Bosch did, later Ed Katzmirski followed by Kirkland and others. Is this
right and was this Benito's intention?

The 'Kosmo 3' is goin' back to the thinner profile and the wider wing design.
Ok, it's a Kit and so it maybe will come out heavier by the customers.
The rudder/elevator was ready, not much changes there. Interisting is
also the elevator on the '7 Bello', I havn't seen such a narrow cutout so far.

Just my two Cents...;)
