Testing Drive efficiency

Openly sharing from the west I post a method for calculating drive efficiency.

The efficiency of a drive is determined buy dividing the three phase power output by the dc power in at the supply.
The test should take place in a voltage range as the efficiency can chance with different input voltages. The more accurate your measuring devices the more accurate you result! The PA used for the test done at the University of Sydney used a Magtrol 6530 with measures to 1mW resolution with .6% accuracy.

This method is accepted by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics

Enjoy.

G'day,
this method only measures currents and tensions before and behind the ESC. It tells nothing about the motor's eta.

So, it is not a drive efficiency test, but rather an ESC testing device.

Right Holger for testing a bldc drive eff. like the title says. Professionally we refer to speed controllers as motor drives. We never project the widely used hobby term "esc". So it's still a drive as I refer it and not really important what term others use. By looking at the photo and reading the accompanied pdf it should be clear what it is we are testing for.

God Bless.
