Schönes Video.

Nettes Video!!! Leider lief die Kamera nur dann wenn nichts elementares geschah, wie eigentlich immer. Der Flügel funktionierte weit besser als es die Bilder hier erahnen lassen.
Da fehlte noch ein bisschen die Übung. Später klappten dann auch ein paar Wenden, wenn auch die Flügelposition das Boot ab einem bestimmten Windeinfallswinkel viel zu luvgierig werden lies.
Am Sonntag Nachmittag dann hab ich ein wenig Flyern geübt. Also Halbwind das Bein hoch nehmen, und dann abfallen. Das klappt schon recht gut. Da lief dann aber die Kamera auch nicht mehr. Also kann ich viel erzählen

Wie gesagt, schade, schade das am Samstag keine Kamera lief Es glaubt einem ja sonst keiner!

KIWI Konzept und Gewichte

Ich habe gestern Abend die machbaren Gewichte mal rauf und runter gerechnet.
In konventioneller Auslegung, also Mittelruder, Mittelschwert und ohne Aussenfoils komme ich mit Flügelrigg, keine Rumpfplattenschaumbauweise auf 2400-2500gr. Minimum.
Mit Aussenfoils, Aussenruder, Ansteuerung plus Aussenfoilsbetätigung liege ich minimum bei 2800gr, es konnen aber auch 3kg. in Schaumplattenbauweise der Rümpfe rauskommen.
Denke hierauf müssten die Rümpfe ausgelegt werden.

Question, how big of a servo do you need on a A size wing sail and flap? Oracle had 17 tones of sheet load on the soft sail and 3 tones of load on the wing sail sheet are you finding the same?

How many degrees of angle on the foils and area? Going to be tough with that short of a boat. Try moving them in front of the crossbeam to get the lift further forward.

Mij, I think these are many good ideas. I am convinced that they would work much much better on a bigger boat. The smaller the boat is, the more difficult it gets.
Maybe you can invest in a bigger platform at times and then try your ideas there. Cool stuff, keep going!!

Thanks Chris, I've come to the same conclusion. I might start a Mini40 in the new year.

CA. 2 deg. I'm not sure what area you are referring to? I like your suggestion regarding stability with the foils further forward, however, I haven't yet found an effective way of making my wings work with a jib, so I am a bit limited regarding foil position due to the CE/CLR relationship.

Remember this is not a mono hull, so CE/CLR does not have as much weight. Even your low CE is pushing the bows down, the only solution is to add lift forward. About 2 degrees is not enough, you are going to need at least 4 and maybe 6 looking at the video.

To be honest Jim, I haven't used a soft sail on my boats for about 12 months. I thought about it, but it feels like cheating. If it is any help, I'm using a 13kg/cm servo for my bigger sails and I think that it is more than I need.

Is that tumbleweed?

Ich stelle mir seit einiger Zeit eine Frage, welche meines Wissens nach noch nicht diskutiert wurde.

Muss der Drehpunkt des Flügels ganz vorne sein ? ( quasi im Bereich der Nasenleiste )
Oder kann man den Drehpunkt etwas hinten setzen, swing Rigg like ( 1/3 oder 1/4 zurück ) ?
