I have seen a vid in the shop at Jepe about 6 years ago with a twin spiderfan setup. This version flew like a roket!! This is not scale performance... It would have cost me about 1200 euro for that setup.
70mm edf has a more scale intake dia and provide sufficient thrust and speed to fly with authority. You can see this in the link of the Jet Arrows video.
reducing tail weight is reducing wire lenght due to a less front position of the battery and eliminating extra capacitors. Using cheap outrunners eliminates a 2 controller setup. A lighweight setup saves an additional batterypack too to power both motors.
I might be in the 1800gr weight range and 1300gr thrust. The low power setup makes it possible to fly full throttle all the time. Partial throttle is a hard thing to deal with for a controller. (Jets ought to be flown full throttle all the time IMHO
)
This plane is not about speed. It is about the great low fly bys (and 9 minutes recharge time
)
Because I am using the 9s a123 pack and spin55 in 4 other planes already This is a cheap way to power the A10: Need to pay 2x34euro for the 45gr outrunners!
I do not like a high wingload for beautiful planes that are out of produktion as well. I have converted a 90mm Huckebein to 70mm and is flys great with only 700 Watts. The Lippisch with microfan is very nice too.
