So far biggest thing was 3D printed fuel tank.

No insulation, only thrust pipe.

Maiden soon.... :)

Hello Tom,

3d printed fuel tank. Made of which material?

Any experinece with printed tanks before?

Best regards

Hello Florian,

Material used is PETG.
And coated with brush with thin epoxy from inside and out (no glass fiber cloth, only epoxy).

That is my first and it works,
second is even more fun, because it has a hole through it for a wing spar ! :)

Classical tanks would hold much less fuel than this 3D ones... T45 has fuel for 10 minute flight and some left in reserve. No hopper is needed with felt clunk.

If you have any questions, just ask

That 3D printed tanks are amazing.
If this will work on long term usage, then it'll be a quite cheap and easy way to install customised tanks in those little turbine foamies.

I like that 👌 😏

359, haha. Look at the curves in the data viewer. My PC21 had also often 400+ in the GPS, and when you see the graphs its only a peak in a smooth curve. Never trust the maximum value on GPS… Its super rubbish. If the T45 flew 230 you can be happy and thats realistic.

Thats an example. Smooth and round speed curve. And an edgy spike which produce a unrealistic value on the min/max display…

GPS is a nice tool, but it can fool you.

Nice to have someone drop in,
My last avanti turbine thread here was a bit quiet :)

I am well aware of gps readings, it is not as reliable as pitot airspeed sensor I use on my bigger JMB MB339(but mostly for stall warning, not for top speed measurement)

I fly model inverted full circle around airport, many rolls later, cuban 8's...
So of course gps was looking to the ground and lost lock many times...
Glad to have you here to explain spikes ;) dont take this too serious,
Ciberjaya guys sure dont, just have fun ;)

More important for me is no fly zone warning on Jeti transmitter,
because we fly at military airport and have sometimes heavy traffic in front of us...

And 3D printed tank test model...
Foam model without aluminium tape insulation anywhere...
Hoping to fly 100 flights like avabti did then transfer turbine to Mig21, it has a hole in fuel tank, maybe will fly 240kmh, who knows, gps may even show 400 but thats just clickbait ;)

yes, this is great use of cheap manufacturing for specific shaped tanks, even with a hole for wing spar (Mig21 ! )
works great so far :)
